Memoirs of a sticky patch

This is the process Maddy has to go through everyday.  From the chair at the beginning where she is looking at me in dread that she has to wear her patch another day, to her almost getting it on, to her not liking how it feels and taking it off again, to her trying it again and finally after tears and inner torment she finally keeps it on and goes on with her day.  I feel bad for Maddy everyday she has to do this.  Some personalities deal with this just fine, like Brooklyn never had a problem with it, but Maddy's personality can barely handle it, and of course she is the one that has had to do this for years.  She is sensitive to anything touching her and feeling weird, she has an OCD personality that has to have things just right, and the patch never feels just right to her.  She worries everyday that she will be made fun of and that someone will come up to her again, asking whats wrong with your eye?  Maddy is terribly shy and it makes her so uncomfortable when people approach her and ask why she looks different.  All I can do as a mom is just try to help her understand how worth it this will be in the long run and how beautiful she is with that patch on.  Her class mates and teacher have been amazing about her patch.  Her teacher talked to the class about Maddy's patch from the very beginning and made everyone very comfortable with it.  The kids compliment her on it and tell her how cute it looks.  No one in her class made fun of her, and even if they had Maddys teacher told Maddy to tell her about it and she will take care of it.  She is surrounded by people who support her and love her and that is how she is able to do this everyday.
