Maddy's Neck Surgery
Everything happens to Maddy, you'd think she has had enough surgery's but now she has one more to add to the list. Over a month ago we noticed a red bump on Maddy's neck. At first we thought it was nothing but then it kept getting bigger and redder. So we brought her to the pediatrician and he told us that she has a thyro glossal duct sist (sorry about the spelling). He recommended us to an ENT and we got in right away. He wasn't sure it was a thyro glossal duct sist so we had to go get an ultra sound to make sure. Turns out it was so she got into surgery right away. He had to dig into her neck pretty deep because the infection was so severe. She has three layers of stitches inside her neck so that means no lifting anything or playing roughly for a week. And it also means she gets to take heavy pain medication. She is doing really well, the hardest part is keeping her from playing too roughly or jumping too much. Our poor Maddy. Now Maddy has one more scar to add to her collection. She has a scar from laying her eye brow open after bumping heads with a friend, she has a scar from tripping out of the car and face planting her face into the pavement which made her glasses cut her face. She has scars in her eyes from her surgery's. Maddy is being forced to be tough at a very young age. Too bad it has given her a fear of Doctors and of men in general. But all is well, it could always be worse, she is healthy, for now.
We have also learned that Maddy is extremely funny when given medicine to help her relax before surgery, videos of that adventure are to come..
Time out for Women
Mel, Megan, Rissa, and Me all had the opportunity to go to a Time out for Women Conference in Cincinnati. It was amazing, truly one of the most spiritual experiences Ive ever had. The speakers were amazing. I also had a blast hanging out with these three women. We shared a hotel room and stayed up talking and eating junk food. The whole trip was a spiritual and emotional retreat that was much needed.
