The Temple

Enjoying the sunset by the Mississippi, it was gorgeous our first night there. This is my favorite spot in Nauvoo, it is like standing on holy ground. This is where the pioneers crossed the river and said goodbye to Nauvoo.

This is Michael Bedard. He was an artist that we met in Nauvoo. We went into his gallery and were immediately blown away by his art, it was breath taking. He is trying to finish a painting right now which is the one behind him, it is a portrayal of when one of the prophets was in the St. George temple and all the signers of the declaration of Independence and some other great men and women of the past came to him and asked to get their temple work done. So in the painting there are temple workers and about 60 or more great influential men of the past. It is very cool.

When he saw us he asked how old Megan and I were, and then after looking at us for a while he asked if he could take pictures of us. He is trying to take pictures of women so that he can use their faces to paint some of the influential women into the photo. So our faces might be used in his painting. It was a really cool experience. He had an amazing spirit about him. He is truly inspired to paint what he does.

This is the wagon ride where they take you all around Nauvoo and just show you where everything is. We went on a carriage ride after this one that was even better because they told inspirational stories about the people who lived there.

This was the girls favorite part about it of course.

The Visitors Center

This is the Garden behind the Visitors Center that is dedicated to women. So I went with my girls and took pictures by all the women.

This is the show that the Young Missionaries put on for the kids, the girls loved it, it is called Anna-Amanda, which that is who is on the stage in this picture.

This is where they have all the night shows, we watched "Sunset by the Mississippi" then we watched the BYU Folk Dancers, it was awesome.

This is in the Family Fun Center where you can go to different stations and learn how to do different things, this is us making rope. Brooklyn was thrilled that she got to make her own rope. She wore her rope on her belt the rest of the trip.

They mainly liked playing with the baby dolls though, they were a little too young to want to go to all the stations.

Except Evie, she liked listening to the people, she especially liked learning about making bread with Nana, plus she got to eat the bread also that was a plus.

Outside there is a childrens play area where kids can play pioneer games and dress up in full pioneer gear they loved this part of the trip.

This is the Nauvoo brass band that goes around on a wagon and plays music through out the day. Maddie loves it everytime they passed she danced and waved.

We took the girls on lots of wagon rides through out the weekend, but this was the only one that is pulled by oxen in a wagon that is the actual size that the pioneers would have used, which is a lot smaller then I have always pictured.
